New Home | The Little Things

Last week we moved into our new home! Myself and Josh have been renovating our first buy for months. Stripping it back to bare brick and starting again. It's been a long long process but it's finally looking like a place we can live happily in, rather than a building site. It's been the reason I've been so quiet on the blog front. I've just not had time to sit down and write, there's been so much to do!

Buying your first home is scary and exciting all at the same time. I'm more interested in thinking about the small details such as candles and cushions rather than worrying about the plaster or repointing. It's a good job we're different people in on that front - Josh has taken care of the foundations and now I get to accessorise to my hearts content!

It's the little things that make a big difference. Those finishing touches in the decor make a house a home, especially if they're personalised goodies like these from PrezzyBox* I was kindly offered two products to review from Prezzybox.com and I opted for a teeny personalised ceramic dish customised with the words Home Sweet Home, our names and the year we moved in. I use the dish to hold my rings when I'm doing the washing up so it stays on our kitchen window sill, near the sink.

Then there's this chunky wooden stash tray for storing bits and pieces. I've let Josh claim this one for putting his 'manly things' in.... a watch, mints and lip balm? It's beautifully made, a solid piece of oak with our initials engraved into it. I'm already considering buying these as gifts. You can choose between a few different fonts too. Don't personalised things make the best presents!?

I'm looking forward to sharing more house and home things in the future on Hello Gwen. I've been holding back as we're still finishing the bathroom and kitchen. A work in progress but we're on our way!
