Blogging in 2016

I've realised I haven't really posted an introduction to 2016 or a 'Hello & Happy New Year from me!' So here it is. I have been thinking lots about my blog and what path This Fashion is Mine might take in 2016. I'd love to get your feedback and some input because although I enjoy blogging for myself it really wouldn't be the same without my readers. Let's have a go at setting some goals...

Let's Blog More Often
The past year and a half has been a busy one with setting up my photography business Photography by Gwen and the time has just flown by. I'd love to make more time for blogging. Ideally I'd be posting one piece of quality content per week but posting twice a week would be even better! There's no point in setting unrealistic goals (you only need to read my 'how to make resolutions' post to understand that) so with this in mind for me right now promising to blog at least once a week is an achievable goal.

Let's Blog What We Want
It takes all the enjoyment out of blogging when I feel like I 'have' blog about a particular topic, in a particular way. Throughout 2016 I'm going to blog about the things I really want to blog about. And worry less that some of those things will be of zero interest to my readers. I always want to put out content that is enjoyable or helpful. But you can't please everybody all of the time and if I want to dedicate an entire blog post to my love of The Office (US) then I shall!

Let's Use More Platforms
I've been neglecting my Tumblr and Facebook account. I'd like to use these platforms more often in 2016 and not for just plugging blog posts. I'd hope my Tumblr blog 'Fashion Eater' could be somewhere to answer questions and a place for me to 'brain dump' so I can keep This Fashion is Mine slightly more polished. Follow me on these pages and send me some encouragement!

Let's Get Social
I'll admit it, I am the worst for leaving comments on blogs and replying to comments. I'm terrible at it. I'll read a fantastic blog post and then just move on. Why wouldn't I want to tell the author how much I benefited from their hard work!? I like the new Twitter hearts that have replaced the star icon. As silly as it sounds I think I find myself 'hearting' more Tweets than ever before. It's only a small action but it lets someone know you have read and appreciated what they have written. I may have to look into setting something similar up on This Fashion is Mine because I know not everyone can think of what to say and a heart button only takes a click! But in general I'd like to encourage more conversation and feedback, it's something I definitely need to work on.

What would you like to see more of on This Fashion is Mine? What are your favourite type of posts to read? If you're a blogger have you set some of your own blog goals for 2016?

  1. Can't wait to see more content from you this year! Gosh, I'm awful at remembering to comment sometimes too, haha.
You definitely should post about whatever you want! I don't know about other readers, but I'd personally love to hear about your love for The Office ; )

  2. I feel as though I need to work on the last goal you mentioned too. I would love to see more photography and DIY posts on your blog! x

  3. A lot of my goals are the same, the best of luck to you! X

  4. A lot of my goals are the same, the best of luck to you! X

  5. Good luck with your goals! A lot of mine are similar but I especially want to work on blogging more (and more consistently) and being more social!

  6. I always enjoy reading your blog and would love to see posts about photography tips and projects. I got a DSLR for Christmas but I am a newbie to the photography world so would love some advice about how to get the most from it.
