7 Things to Enjoy about September
As much as I'd love another week of warm, sunny weather, I really am looking forward to autumn and the arrival of September reminds me of all the things I've been missing throughout the summer. Here's a list of my seven most favourite things about September...
#1 Back to School
Hear me out on this one. If you're a student returning to school, college or University then September means a fresh start, stationary, clean notebooks and a new timetable to discover. I always liked starting a new year of education. But enjoy it while you can because everyone knows the feeling wears off by October. If you're no longer in education, revel in the thought of all the kids having to go back and think about how much quieter and cheaper everywhere is after the summer holidays.
#2 Craft Projects
There's no longer a need to feel guilty about staying indoors cutting, sticking and painting all day. It's chilly, it's raining and the nights come sooner so yes, lets spend all day Sunday trying out new diy projects!
#3 Wardrobe Updates
It can't just be me who misses leather boots. Ankle or knee highs, it doesn't matter - I'm just a bit tired of painting my toe nails for sandals. I also bought a few new jackets, jumpers and lightweight coats at the beginning of 2015 and it's been ages since I've worn them! September in the UK can still be warm (and we've been known to have the odd heatwave) but for me it's officially the month where autumn fashion finally gets a look in.
#4 The Great Outdoors
Autumn is my favourite season. The leaves start to change colour and most days are still warm enough to walk around and enjoy all the nature. (When you've finished your craft projects of course).
#5 TV & Film
From now until December it's the best time of year for TV. The Great British Bake Off, Strictly Come Dancing and The X Factor. Plus Netflix (UK) is getting hold of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1, Toy Story 1&2 and Monsters University.
#6 A Relaxed Beauty Regime
Forget all the fake tan. We can stop scrubbing, buffing, moisturising and re-tanning. Now that it's September it's time to embrace your pale and interesting self. Shave your legs, but only when absolutely necessary.
For some reason I never really feel like baking in the summer. It's too warm to stand near an oven and gin & tonic ice lollies sound so much better (although I didn't actually get around to doing those this year). But this month I'm getting back into cakes, buns and bread. Starting with some classic gooey brownies, Mary Berry would be proud.
