This week I'm taking part in Millennium & Copthorne Hotel's 'Guide to Manchester' - and being a Manchester blogger with a true love for the city, I was more than happy to share one of my favourite places to visit. If you're looking for an alternative night out The Frog and Bucket Comedy Club hits the nail on the head. With shows on nearly all week (Saturday nights probably being their busiest) there's always a fantastic atmosphere and new comedy talent to be found. For many well known comedians The Frog and Bucket is where it all began, playing host to one of Peter Kay's first ever gigs and in it's time has seen the likes of John Bishop, Keith Lemon, Sarah Millican, Jack Whitehall, Jason Manford and Alan Carr take to the stage.

I went along last Saturday with friends for the 'Barrel of Laughs' show and were seated dauntingly close to the stage! But the place is pretty small so everyone gets a great view. Your seated at a table and food is available although we didn't sample any on Saturday as we'd already eaten out, but the menu consisted of lots of 'pub grub' meals and the burgers looked amazing. The comedy starts at 8.30 so we got there early to get the drinks in and have a chat before it all kicked off, but there are also intervals between each comedian so plenty of time to refresh your glass!
On Saturday night we were treated to three comedians, none of which I'd heard of before but each one was equally hilarious! I was actually really surprised that all the acts made me laugh, I thought there would be at least one comedian that wasn't to my taste. Each had their own unique approach but the jokes were all very relatable, especially if you're from Manchester. After the comedy, the staff move all the tables and the place becomes, in their words, a 'cheesy disco' with music and dancing.
If you're planning a trip into the city and are looking for an alternative night out, I'd really recommend heading down to The Frog and Bucket on Oldham Street. They even hold 'Beat the Frog' on Monday nights for any budding comedians out there who fancy jumping up on stage and giving it a go. If you're from Manchester and you haven't been yet, give it a try. It's the perfect venue for an unusual date night this Valentine's Day!
