DIY Nail Polish Necklace

A quick and easy DIY that transforms your ugly outdated jewellery into something fresh for the summer. I used pastel nail polishes to paint over the silver 'jewels' and now I have a statement necklace I can actually wear, with t-shirts to dress up a casual look, and with a little black dress for nights out. Sound familiar? I did a similar DIY tutorial back in April 2013 which as you can see here, I transformed a dull gold chain. It's the simplest way to completely change the look of your jewellery and nail polish will apply to almost every surface. The colours will last for ages, but if the polish should chip, just re-paint!

I used Essie Nail Paints in Mint Candy Apple, Haute as Hello, Bikini So Teeny, Lilacism and Models Own Nail Polish in Lemon Meringue. I used the brushes that come with the nail polish but if your gems or stones are particularly tiny, you could use a thin paint brush. Once complete, the polish takes minutes to dry!

  9. You have a really steady hand! I love the idea but I don't think I could execute it as well - although I am wondering if it would work with jewellery where the stones have fallen out?
