Last week I was invited by the lovely people at Social Print Studio to create a hardback photo book using their Printstagram design tool which pulls photos from your Instagram feed and allows you to arrange them in an album. You can choose the Classic 38 photo album or Creative 319 photo album. I went for the classic design and based my little book around food of course! A good 50% of my Instagram feed features food and drink. So I embraced my love of eating out and made a coffee-table-book that makes me hungry just looking at it!
The book is designed through the Printstagram website and you can choose to upload images from your computer or directly grab them from your Instagram account. You can alter the layout and order of the images, choose to show the date/captions or hide them. I left the captions, hash tags and all i.e. 'Well chosen spot for food @alisonruthxo beef and sundried tomato panini #food' these act as little reminders for the times spent eating with friends and then the book becomes more than just about food, it's about memories too. I picked a title but you can also leave this area blank.
I'm really impressed with the overall quality of the photo-book, the photos are sharp and colourful and I can see this being a perfect present idea. What I'd like to see is an option to pull photos from other people's instagram feeds - although this may seem a little creepy it would be the ideal way to surprise a friend and create something personal for them. With Father's Day not far away (15th June - UK) a personalised photo-book would make a beautiful present. And you don't have to use Instagram images, you could pop in old family photographs giving them a fresh look with a contemporary square crop. Social Print Studio ship internationally and my book arrived within 1 week of ordering.
