Where have I been and why have I been so busy? Well, over the past month I have been working hard on exciting plans. For those of you who may not know, I work primarily in photography. I'm a 3rd year photography student and a part-time studio photographer. But in the upcoming weeks I will be opening the doors to my very own photography studio. Hello, Photography by Gwen. This means I will be a business owner and my own boss - how scary! It's also very a exciting time and it's been keeping me occupied for several weeks. Who knew there was so much involved. My studio room is lovely, it's small but it's big enough for me. Maybe a studio tour is in order?
I won't be leaving my blog behind, in fact I may now have more time to focus on blogging as I can dedicate time during the week to work on blog stuff. My studio is located in the Greater Manchester area and for anyone in the North West I hope you'll stop by and visit me for your own personal shoot. I will be specialising in fashion portraiture and makeover shoots but I will also be welcoming children, families and couples for their unique photo shoots.
At the moment the studio is a little bare but it's slowly coming together and it's been so amazing to see it turn into a little office/work space all of my own. Yesterday I sent out the invites to my launch party so it feels quite a bit more real now! My business cards and flyers have arrived, my logo and website was designed by my very talented brother Russ who's site is evilscheme.co.uk if you want to see his illustration and graphic design work.
My photography website is still undergoing work it will be live soon, but you can find me and 'Photography by Gwen' on Facebook and follow my photography business page facebook.com/gwenmcmullinphotography and follow the studio on Twitter for instant updates!
I'd love to start shooting some of my blog readers - it would be great to meet some of you, so for anyone interested in getting together to work on a shoot, maybe even some brand new fashion images for your blog just drop me a message and we can discuss discounted reader rates! I've kept the address of the studio a little bit hidden on my blog but of course full info will be divulged on my website so you actually know where to visit me.
Before January this year I knew nothing about business and starting a company. I've had to learn as I've gone on - and I'm still learning! But if anyone would like a blog post about starting your own business or working freelance/for yourself let me know in the comments and I will be more than happy to write about my experiences so far.
