Edinburgh

Here are some photos from our recent trip to Scotland! We stayed at The Carlton Hotel in Edinburgh for two nights to celebrate my 21st birthday and my parents 20 year anniversary. I'd never visited Scotland before this past weekend but I would certainly visit again.
The train journey was pretty exhausting taking over 4 hours from Manchester but well worth it once we had arrived. We were quite lucky with the weather on the Friday and Saturday as it was beautifully sunny with a crisp cold chill in the air. When we arrived at our hotel and checked into our room we were met with champagne and chocolates, a huge king size bed and a brilliant view of Edinburgh. (5th photo down.)
As you can see we couldn't miss an opportunity to visit the zoo and see the only pandas in the UK. They were both inside sleeping when we arrived for our appointment (yes, you need to book an appointment to see the pandas!) so I got some great photos as they were so close to the glass.
We also got to see the two male koalas which was a first for me - I've never seen a koala before, who'd have thought I'd just need to travel to Scotland to see one!
The rest of our time in Edinburgh was spent shopping, eating and drinking and snapping the occasional photo next to a gold postbox. I think had I had a few more days, I'd have liked to hike up to the hillier areas and see more of the sights, maybe visit the castle. But overall it was a lovely way to celebrating turning 21 and I'd go back in a flash!
