DIY Half Moon Nails

This weeks DIY post comes to you a day later than usual as I was at The Stone Roses gig yesterday (incredible!) so have just got round to putting this up. I've wanted to try this style of manicure for ages and finally remembered to get hold of some round stickers or reinforcement rings for ring binders. I'm going to show you how to create this reverse manicure in three easy steps.
All you need is...

Two colours. I'm using 'Angel Wings' by Collection 2000 and 'Haute as Hello' by Essie. You also need some of these round stickers which you can pick up on ebay for a small price. This box contains 500 so I'll not need to buy any more in a hurry!

Step #1 - Start by painting your nails in the colour you would like your 'half moon' to be. Paint a few coats or as many as it takes to form the right colour. Then leave this to thoroughly dry! I usually paint my nails in the evening and leave them overnight so I know the stickers won't pull any colour off.

Step #2 - Attach the stickers as shown above. The area covered by sticker will be the depth of your half moon, so you decided how big you want these to be.

Step #3 - Carefully paint your second colour choice on the nails. You can paint right up to the sticker edge for a crisp line. Leave to dry and then remove all the stickers. Add a clear top coat and that's it!

I think this style looks great in all sorts of colours. Black and white is very striking but going for red and white or black and gold gives a perfect evening look. I chose grey and coral to be day time appropriate.
